How’s It Going? Here’s the Update on My IS101 Adventure!

So far, I think I've done pretty well in IS101-3205, Spring 2025. Although there have been some challenges, I’ve been able to keep up with the lessons and assignments, and I’ve noticed improvements in my digital skills. I feel more comfortable navigating the course material as time goes on. Moving forward, I want to focus more on my LabSim since I know those are key elements to passing my certification test. They help me practice and build the hands-on experience needed to succeed.

Going forward, I plan to work on my time management to make sure I don’t fall behind, especially during busier weeks. If I fall behind on lab simulations, I’ll try my best to catch up, but I also make sure to stay on top of everything else so I don’t get too far off track.

To prepare for the upcoming MO-110 Word certification exam, I’ve been reviewing key features in Word, like formatting, document setup, and creating tables. I’m also going over the practice exercises and ensuring I understand all the exam objectives so I can feel confident when it’s time to take it.

One skill I found particularly useful was from section 4.10.8, "Reference Tips." This skill will definitely help me when making future research papers. A lot of my English teachers ask that we cite our sources, add page numbers, and use different formats like MLA or APA. This section really helped me understand how to properly format and cite my sources, which will be a huge asset for any academic writing I do in the future. It’s by far the most helpful section I’ve encountered in the course so far.

Overall, it’s been a great experience so far. I’ve learned so many new skills, and I look forward to continuing to improve and gaining even more knowledge as the course progresses!

  2. Hey Paulina,

I really enjoyed reading your update! It’s awesome to hear how much more confident you’re feeling with the course, I feel like we’ve all grown a lot since the beginning.

I also loved the part about the Reference Tips in section 4.10.8. That one stood out to me too, it’s already been super helpful in some of my writing assignments. Being able to properly format sources in MLA or APA is such a useful skill, and it’s great that you’re already thinking ahead to how you’ll use it in other classes.

You're doing an amazing job so far, and I’m sure you’ll keep crushing it through the rest of the semester! ^-^

  6. I feel you on the time management. I started off great with working ahead and then the load at work started increasing and I feel like I've fallen behind. I feel like all that we have learned in this class really does help in my classes where I have to use Word though.

  7. Hey Paulina! Yup, the dragon that is time management, but like always once you've "slayed" it, the rest comes naturally. Gaining confidence is awesome! Especially digital literacry, since it is always ever-changing, so a good foundation is always a leg-up. I hope we continue to see you "slaying" the time-management dragon!

Your plan of staying focus and on top of LabSims is going to be very beneficial. I think many of us have shared the same sentiment with discovering the References tab. 11. Hey Paulina, I agree that the 'Reference Tips' section has been helpful. As I was learning this, I was wishing I knew about it earlier. It is honestly easier to do the work on time instead of playing catch up. I have been in the same shoes as you. That is why I try to stay on track as best I can, but again, I am not perfect.
